Grilled Veggie Burgers with Lentils and Walnuts

I will gladly admit it, even though I eat meat, I LOVE a good veggie burger. LOVE.

Sometimes when you don't want a heavy hamburger, a good ol' veggie burger with all of the fixings totally hits the spot. When I first moved to Nashville I had a version of this veggie burger a  local vegan restaurant Avo. I loved their use of lentils and walnuts to create a savory vegetable based burger.

Mexican Street Corn Inspired Caesar Salad

Almost all of my food inspiration comes from dishes that I have eaten or experienced in some way. I then take those flavors and put my own spin on them. I recently had the chance to experience a street corn Caesar salad at 1000 North in Jupiter Florida. I am a huge fan of Caesar salads and who doesn't love Mexican Street corn! Loved the two flavors together so I decide to come up with my own version.

Cherry Almond Galette

Cherry season is one of the seasonal fruits that I wait for all year. Cherry season signals the start of warm weather and all that gorgeous sunshine that summer has to offer. It also signals BBQs, outside dinners and picnics - the reason I love summer so much.

I love the combination of cherries and almonds because they have a natural affinity for each other. Cherries and almonds are actually related to each other - they are in the same family as peaches, apricots and a lot of other types of stone fruit. You know that saying what what grows together goes well together, well in this instance it is totally true, almonds and cherries are a perfect pair.

Lemon Meringue Pie

Let's talk about how I have become this crazy pie lady! I don't know where it came from. Actually scratch that, I blame my family. We never had cakes growing up - we always had pie. Fast forward to my cooking career and my love of pie has basically taken off. I wrote a cookbook on pie when I was in the Williams-Sonoma Test Kitchen and have loved, loved creating videos out of pie. It is universal, everyone loves a good 'ol pie

Chicken with Tomato, Orange, and Fennel

I worked in a Michelin starred restaurant right after cooking school. Well it was technically called a stage and I didn't get paid, so I am not sure if you can call it work, but it sure seemed like work! After that experience I gained a whole new appreciation for those that  cook in restaurants. It is hard work!

Meyer Lemon and White Chocolate Tart

I am going to the Golden Globes! What alternate universe did I just fall into? I keep on thinking they are going to email and say just kidding, your invitation was meant for someone else, someone in the “bizz.” Since that hasn’t happened yet at least, I have teamed up with Lindt Chocoalte to create a “golden” Meyer lemon and white chocolate tart in honor of the 74th Golden Globe Awards.

Three Cheese Mac & Cheese

We serve mac-n-cheese at any and all holiday dinners. I know that some might consider that blasphemy but I love it... because it is mac -n-cheese! It is the perfect comfort food and when you make it homemade, it is a total game changer. Looking at the food that I like to eat, especially at the holidays, I tend to skew Southern. I am not sure why, I didn't really grow up in the South but when it comes to food, Southern food is my total comfort food. This mac-n-cheese is no exception.

Lemon Meringue Tart

We have landed in LA. It has been a rough and crazy couple weeks but we are officially LA residents. I don't think it has hit me yet because I am just so busy. Between my 36 hour trip last week to speak at the Samsung event space and a top secret baking cookbook I am helping to write, I don't know up from down. Which is good and bad. On the one hand it is good because there hasn't been time to really process that we are in a new city trying to make new friends and find new places to eat, things to do. But bad because one day in a couple months I am going to wake up and realize I no longer live in the Bay Area. But I guess denial is good right?

How to Build a Cheese Board

I love a good cheese board. A perfect meal to me is a simple as a nice glass of wine and a bunch of different cheeses.
