Summertime Fruit Clafoutis

If you have been following along long enough, you know that I love cooking with what I already have. I really don't like the idea of going to the grocery store just for one recipe and think we all can make so much more than we know with just the simple ingredients in our pantry. This idea rings true when it comes to savory cooking because you can riff and experiment so much more easily with savory ingredients.

Plum and Apricot Cake

I started the concept of fridge foraging because I wanted to show people that you could make delicious food by just using the ingredients already in your house. I was so sick of seeing recipes that necessitated 4 trips to different grocery stores and the use of unconventional ingredients that will only get used once.

Summertime Fruit Crisp

I have gotten a couple requests for fridge foraging dessert style. I will admit fridge foraging for sweet dessert recipes is a lot harder than creating a savory recipe out of what is in your refrigerator. This past weekend though I realized I had a ton of leftover fruit, both fresh and frozen, and decided to make a fridge foraged dessert in the form of a summertime crisp.

Chocolate Fondue

As I was brainstorming Valentine's Day recipes I was trying to think of the most Valentines/romantic recipes I could think of and in addition to the perfect chocolate souffle, chocolate fondue comes in a very close second! I think it was because we grew up going to the Melting Pot for celebrations but to me a huge chocolate fondue spread just screams Valentines Days. Do you know what else I love about it? Is it super easy to throw together.

Meyer Lemon Bars

I can't seem to get enough of citrus these days. I was always a citrus lover growing up but it intensified a millions times when I got pregnant. All I want to do is eat citrus and drink orange juice. And don't get me started on lemon desserts, I can't pass up any dessert with lemon in it, especially these Meyer Lemon Bars.

Poached Pears

I think there are two types of people in this world...people who love Costco and people who hate Costco. I fall into the later. The thought of going to Costco gives me serious anxiety. I don't know what it is - I love other stores like Target and Walmart. And Trader Joes and Whole Foods I can do with my eyes closed...but there is just something about Costco.

Molten Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter

Give me all the chocolate please. Well, let me rephrase that. Please give me anything that has to do with chocolate and peanut butter. I absolutely cannot resist that flavor combination. And don’t even get me started on what happens when you put them together in a molten chocolate cake – it is the most unbelievable dessert out there.  You should probably go make it, right now.

Upside Down Banana Cake

I love food brands that remind me of a time and place in my life. Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee at Home is one of those brands.  Going to school in Boston, I like every other college kid in town, had an iced coffee every morning, even when it was below freezing and snowing. I even interned at the advertising agency that held the Dunkin’ account and made some horribly embarrassing advertising campaign for Dunkin’ Donuts as my final project that thankfully has been lost (hopefully).

Dutch Apple Cake

This past summer we embarked on an epic European vacation. One of these days I will get around to posting some of those pictures here, but until then lets talk about this apple pie/apple cake situation that we encountered on our trip. The first leg of our trip was LA to Amsterdam. We later went onto Denmark and Sweden but for the purpose of this post, lets talk all about Amsterdam and that apple cake.

Three Ways: Summertime Galettes

I wanted to start a new recipe videos series where I take 1 basic recipe then show you how to create three different recipes with it. Sound good? Today we are talking about galettes. Galettes are basically pie dough that wrapped around fresh fruit or veggies. Since we are in the thick of glorious summer I wanted to show three of my favorite summertime galettes:  stone fruit, berry and tomato.
